Gourmet Escapes is a destination cooking
show. The host, Massimo Capra,
is a master chef with many television credits and is well recognized
across Canada and the USA. We travel the world in search of fine
food, an opportunity to meet some of culinary colleagues in other
countries and learn of their gastronomic specialties. Massimo’s aim is
to learn about the local tastes, cooking styles, ingredients and how
they are cultivated. His host teaches Massimo about the local
ingredients and then plan a meal together for invited friends &
guests. We’ll see if Massimo’s spin on things will be well received! After visits to local merchants and
purveyors, cooking day arrives! Both chefs are in the kitchen prepping
and discussing what they will cook with the ingredients they have
gathered. Massimo is Italian and given the background of his culinary
colleague, both manage to infuse a little of their own cultures into
their creations. Both share ideas, cooking techniques and, when you
meet Massimo, many laughs too as the meal is prepared. They have no
kitchen staff to help. It’s just the two of them! There are no second chances, no practice
kitchens, they must get the meal right the first time and get reactions
from their guests. Both chefs’ reputations are at stake and also
