FROM THE CONGO TO ZAIRE (52')
GENRE: HISTORY & ETHNOLOGY

Using rare images, this episode takes us back to the life of the Belgian colonists in the Congo. It retraces the setting up of the Congo's independence, the background to the assassination of Patrice Lumumba, and Mobutu's accession to power. This program describes the colonization by Europeans of a vast African country. The process of decolonisation has often been painful, and the example of the Congo is striking, showing the successive stages of African emancipation.
