In 2000, David Piperni, a sales executive with over 10 years of international television experience, founded Cargo Film & Releasing. The distribution and production company is staffed by an inter-national group of dedicated television and film professionals. Unlike other distribution, Cargo is committed to only certain genres of programming. Specialists at their craft, Cargo personnel aim to establish solid and reliable relationships with like-minded broadcasters, buyers, producers and filmmakers from around the world.

EXPORTING/FINANCING
Cargo Film & Releasing specializes in representing Features, Lifestyle, Reality, Travel, History, Culture and Music & Arts content for the international television marketplace. We attend all major television conferences and markets including MIPTV, MIPCOM, NATPE, HOT DOCS, IFP MARKET, TORONTO FILM FESTIVAL, SUNDANCE, NEW YORK FILM & VIDEO FESTIVAL,TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL, AFM, and the MONTREAL WORLD FILM FESTIVAL. We work with projects at every stage of development and production, spending considerable time locating financing for projects for filmmakers whose work we admire.

IMPORTING
Cargo Releasing also imports non-fiction programming to the US and Canadian markets. Constantly in touch with buyers in these markets, Cargo has arrangements with European, Australian and South African producers for the U.S., Canadian and Japanese television markets.

PRODUCTION

TV PRODUCTION: Through its production arm ORIGINAL SPIN MEDIA of Toronto, Cargo Film & Releasing has specialized in the production of music, art, travel and documentary programming. The partners always various series in pre-production and production including the travel series RHYTHM AND BLOOMS for EQUATOR HD; the pop music series BEAUTIFUL NOISE for RAVE HD, GT RACER for UKTV, HI FI TV and TREASUREHD and SOLOS-JAZZ SESSIONS for BRAVO Canada and HD NET.

DOCUMENTARY PRODUCTION: Cargo also produces and executive produces exciting, inspiring documentary projects including THE FURIOUS FORCE OF RHYMES, an ambitious, international feature doc on the relevance of hip hop music and culture as a social and political voice of the world's disenfranchised youth. It is being co-produced with Paris-based Euro-Americain Films.

INDEPENDENT FILM: Marking the company's entry into independent film, Cargo is a producer of the remake of the French Film, THE RIVER, an urban drama, being written by KIM WATSON (HONEY) and being co-produced with L.A. based producers SHERRY SIMPSON, RASHIDI HARPER and GEORGE HAMBRICK.

AGENT/REPRESENTATION FOR FILMMAKERS: Cargo Film & Releasing also represents a select group of international filmmakers. Remake rights sales for European and Korean films have recently become an area of focus for the company.
